Q – How do you win the Overall Pentair® Everpure Golden Bean?
A – You must enter a coffee in the Espresso category #1, Milk Based category #2 and for the first time in 2017 Filter category #3. The highest scoring entries you submit from each of these categories will be added together for your Golden Bean score.
Q – What if I don’t receive the competition bags – can I still enter?
A – If you don’t get Golden Bean branded bags in time to submit your coffees, please send your coffee to us in unbranded bags clearly mark with the category number on the top left side. If you have multiple entries in the same category ensure you have a corresponding letter eg. A,B,C with your printed packaging slip stapled to the bag.
Q – What is the packing slip?
A – Once you have submitted and paid for your entries, the MY ENTRIES page will display a PRINT PACKING SLIP download button. Please print each individual packing slip and attach it to your designated coffee, then we are able to scan the barcode and mark your coffee as received.
Q – When should I send my coffee in and where to?
A – All competition entries are due in by the Friday 17th November 5.00pm EST.

A – Not at all! Get in now and be part of this amazing event! Simply click on the ENTER / ATTEND page and ATTEND THE CONFERENCE button to access the online registration form.
Q – Why should I attend The Golden Bean?
A – To meet and learn from industry leaders. We have some of the best coffee professionals presenting at the Golden Bean. The opportunity also allows you to network with suppliers and other roasters from around the nation in a fun, social environment – it’s the best part of this event! Q – How do you judge so many coffees?
A – All of the delegates who attend the Golden Bean complete a calibration session and are the judges of the competition. We can have up to 150 judges at the event. We have also extended the conference to include an extra day, to ensure judging palates remain fresh.
Q – Do I get to see who’s coffee I’m judging?
A – No, we code all the bags individually and the coffee is blind cupped by the judges. Not even the baristas preparing coffees know the companies they are brewing the coffee for.
Q – Fly or drive?
A – Port Macquarie is approx 4 hrs drive north of Sydney and approx 7 hrs drive south of Brisbane. If you would prefer to fly there are direct flights from Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne! Taxi’s from the airport take about 10 minutes, and we arrange busses for most offsite evening events, so if you stay in the CBD you don’t necessarily need to hire a car.
Q – Where should I book my accommodation?
A – The event is held at Rydges Port Macquarie, which is smack bang in the middle of the CBD, on the beautiful Hastings River. If you choose to stay with Rydges Port Macquarie, be sure to mention that you are part of the GBA conference for discounted prices. There is plenty of accommodation in town that is within walking distance.
