Alternative fermentation processes from Colombia and the impact of low coffee prices at origin.
Carlos travelled to Australia in 2009 for education purposes, his intention was to do an MBA at Macquarie University and return home. After finishing his postgraduate studies he worked as a Civil Engineer for 4 years for Rio Tinto and Downer EDI.
With a desire to work closely with his family, in 2015 Carlos decided to return to his roots and join the family business – coffee. His attachment to family and his passion for coffee gave birth to Cofinet in May of 2015.
For 80 years the Arcila family has grown and distributed the finest Colombian coffee to local exporters. In 2015 they expanded their operations and began producing, sourcing and exporting speciality coffee to the rest of the world.
As growers, they specialise in alternative fermentation processes that are new to Colombia. On their farm and at their processing centre La Pradera, the most exotic varieties are processed achieving unique profiles that were previously unknown for Colombian coffees.
Carlos believes that one of the most important factors to the success of Cofinet is their focus on having a positive impact on the communities and farmers they work with at origin.
They are very proud to work hand by hand with some of the most passionate and dedicated producers of Colombian Coffee.
