RANCILIO SPECIALTY RS1

CUTTING EDGE BREWING TECHNOLOGY
Unmatched temperature control during the extraction allows the barista to fine tune every shot, resulting in a better cup profile. Proprietary multi-boiler brewing technology gives each machine unmatched temperature control and consistency. With independent groups and LCD shot timers, baristas are able to dial in temperature delivery to fine tune the espresso extraction and then lock in for service.
The unparalleled thermal stability is achieved with multi-stage thermal control. When the brewing group is activated, the pump brings hot water from a heat exchanger into the group micro-boiler, which acts efficiently to bring the water to the desired temperature. The group micro-boiler is cast in stainless steel and utilizes two heating elements to control both the water temperature and group body temperature for maximum accuracy. Water then moves into the preinfusion chamber and is dispersed gently on the espresso in the portafilter using a shower screen. This allows for a soft, even infusion of water on the espresso puck and provides a 10 second ramp up to pressure.
As the espresso brews, water is simultaneously moved through a profiling valve into the group to profile the brewing temperature using a carefully calculated algorithm. Testing in labs in both Italy and the US showed a high degree of accuracy, and these results were confirmed by WBC testing to be in the highest tier of temperature accuracy for espresso machines. With the additional introduction of cold water into the group and with the efficient thermodynamics, the RS1 is able to avoid brewing with water in an energy efficient and consistent manner. All of this technology is packaged with reduced energy consumption in mind with an insulated boiler, a lower power mode for idle hours, and the ability to disengage grouphead boilers when not in use.
