World’s Largest Coffee Roasting Competition Returns to Brisbane

Golden Bean Australasia 2026 to be Hosted at Latitude Coffee Roasters, North Lakes, 16–20 June

BRISBANE, QLD — Golden Bean Australasia, the world’s largest coffee roasting competition, is set to descend on Brisbane from 16 to 20 June 2026, with the prestigious event hosted at Latitude Coffee Roasters’ state-of-the-art facility in North Lakes, Queensland. The five-day celebration of craft coffee will bring together hundreds of roasters from across Australia, New Zealand, and beyond, competing for the most coveted medals in the Southern Hemisphere’s coffee calendar.

It is a fitting venue. Latitude Coffee Roasters was crowned the 2026 Golden Bean World Series Overall Champion earlier this year in Newcastle, NSW — a landmark achievement that affirms Brisbane’s growing reputation as one of Australia’s most dynamic specialty coffee cities. Hosting the Australasia competition at Latitude’s North Lakes roastery brings the action to a team that knows better than anyone what it takes to reach the very top.

“Golden Bean is where roasting excellence is recognised, and where the entire industry gathers to push the craft forward. Brisbane and the Latitude team make for a truly exceptional host — this is going to be an event the Australasian coffee community will not forget.”

About the Competition

Golden Bean Australasia is the flagship regional qualifier for the Golden Bean World Series, drawing entries across a wide range of brewing and roasting categories including Espresso, Milk-Based, Filter, Single Origin, and more. Coffees are judged blind by a panel of expert cuppers, with Bronze, Silver, and Gold medals awarded to the finest roasts in each category. Medal-winning roasters earn qualification to the Golden Bean World Series, where the best from every region compete for the title of World’s Best Coffee Roaster.

The competition is open to roasters of all sizes — from boutique single-origin specialists to large-scale commercial operations — making it one of the most inclusive and democratic events on the global coffee calendar. Past winners have come from every corner of Australia and New Zealand, reflecting the extraordinary depth of roasting talent across the region.
